The mission of the Deep River Public Library is to build a strong Deep River community by supporting literacy and life-long learning, to foster inspiration and enjoyment, and to connect people to each other and the world at large.

Membership
Membership at the Deep River Public Library is free to all residents of the following locations: Deep River, Laurentian Hills, and the Township of Head, Clara and Maria. Non-residents, temporary residents and seasonal residents may also become members of the library for an annual fee of twenty dollars.
Membership is easily obtainable at the library during open hours. Simply present yourself to the staff member at the main desk, and bring identification that includes your address. Lost cards are replaced for a $5 fee for adults and a $1 fee for juniors.
Adult membership is available to persons 13 years of age or older. Members may borrow any material within the library, with the exception of new magazines, newspapers, and reference material.
Junior members, persons who are under 13, require a parent or guardian to sign their registration.
Board Meetings
Board meetings take place on the third Thursday of every month, excluding July and August, in the Deep River Library Program room. Meetings begin at 10am and are open to the public.

The Library Collection
The library offers a wide range of material for public use. Materials for use within the library include several major newspapers, a selection of current issue magazines, and reference materials. Material that may be checked out includes books, magazines, a range of compact discs for all tastes, DVDs, museum passes, and talking books. A collection of large print books is also available for your reading pleasure.
Fees and Fines
We are fines free for 2022!
Overdue materials are charged the following fines, per item, per day:
Adult Books | $0.20 |

Adult Periodicals | $0.20 |
Junior Periodicals | $0.10 |
Talking Books | $0.20 |
Adult Videos and DVDs | $0.50 |
Junior Videos and DVDs | $0.50 |
Compact Discs | $0.20 |
It is the patron's responsibility to return items by their due dates.
Staff will attempt to notify patrons by phone of overdue materials after periods of 2 weeks and 3 weeks. If the material is still not returned, notification will be made after one month by mail, and after this time, the patron will be billed for the material cost.

Program Room
An 1,800 square foot meeting room is available in the basement of the library for use by various groups in the community. The rental charge per session for non-profit organizations is $30, and for others, the charge is $70.
Children's Programs
There are a number of programs run specifically for junior members and children at the library throughout the year. Storytime, summer activity programs, and class visits are just a few of the highlights.
Audio-Visual Equipment
The library has a collection of audio-visual equipment, including a large-screen television and a microfilm machine for use within the library. Other equipment, including a DVD machine,a slide projector, overhead projector, and a VCR may be rented for a fee.
Inter-Library Loans
Materials from a provincial network of libraries are available through inter-library loan.

Photocopier
A black and white photocopier is available for use within the library. The fee for making photocopies is as follows, per page:

Museum Passes
A variety of museum passes are available to borrow for a one week loan period. Patrons may borrow one museum pass at a time only. Visit 'museum passes' for more information.
